Park Resorts Ty Mawr
Ty Mawr Holiday Park is located in Towyn North Wales, and is just a few short miles from the popular seaside town known as Rhyl. It is situated along the beautiful North Wales coastline and is among many other popular caravan parks and camping sites including Pontins in nearby Prestatyn. Although Ty Mawr is better known as a Caravan Park, it also offers both electric and non electric camping pitches for tents or personal camper vans etc… Nearby attractions include an on site swimming pool, children’s play area and two funfairs, bargain shops and the seaside – all in Walking distance for adults and older children.
Ty Mawr Holiday Park Review
I visited the Ty Mawr Holiday Park with my family following a recommendation from my Mother, who stayed there many years ago when it was owned by Haven. We went during the School Holidays and intended on getting an Electric pitch for camping via tent. Unfortunately it was a busy time of year and we were probably lucky to get what we had which was a non electric pitch. We booked in with an offer of 5 nights for the price of 3, which was a Wednesday to Monday. Upon arriving, the Visitors Centre was closed but a security guard had our arrival package and made the process very clear. After a short drive to the Camping field we looked for a space to pitch and found one with ease. in fact it must have been a good 10-15 metres from the nearest other tent instead of the compulsory minimum of 6 metres required. So basically we had plenty of room and privacy. After pitching the tent and getting settled in, we went to look for a supermarket to buy some supplies. We found an Asda near Rhyl about 3 miles away. After returning back to base (Ty Mawr) we got the kids to bed and followed them shortly after. No problems whatsoever other than a strong breeze, but no fault of Ty Mawr Wales and we all slept peacefully – no noise. The following day we tried some on site features including the Arcade and Children’s play area. Despite losing a few pounds we all felt we had fun at the arcade and the kids loved the play area. After that we dried the on site Fish and Chips shop but, for me, it was not impressive. The fish seemed overcooked and drenched in oil. There was another fish and chip shop across the road which may have been better but we never got round to trying it out. On the Friday (day 3) we decided to venture off site, we already knew of one of the funfairs from my Mother and we had seen the newer one when searching for a supermarket. As our children are very young we decided on Knightly’s Funfair which is the one nearer the sea. Basically turn left after the traffic lights near the church. Anyway, considering it was the Summer holidays and having recently been to Cbeebies land, we considered Knightly’s Towyn to be an extremely good and better experience for the kids. Nearly every ride was tailored for young children yet still fun for older ones. We also got a discount code from Ty Mawr Towyn in our welcome pack which made it a cheap day out. Unlimited riding all day with no queues! One thing worth mentioning is that we did not fancy walking from the Caravan park all the way to Knightly’s as our children were only 2 and 3 at the time but we found a handy car park immediately after the left turn. The walk from there was fine and I think the price was £3 for 4 hours maximum stay. After the funfair we went back to the tent, bearing in mind this was a Friday evening, and were surprised to see a lot more tents about. In fact, the area we had parked our car in – now had a tent there so we were forced to mark in front of our tent rather than by the side. The 6 metre rule had gone out of the window and it was more like being in a can of sardines. Despite this we still managed to get a good nights sleep but upon waking we decided, due to windy weather and more rain, to pack up and go home. In conclusion to this Park Resorts Ty Mawr Review I would recommend it for a family holiday but if you enjoy a peaceful and private experience then go Monday to Friday.
